Every once in a while I get these urges…

Currently it seems to be muffins. When I start making and experimenting with muffins it doesn’t stop for a long time. Everyone gets bombarded with muffins. I haven’t made a muffin for at least a few months but I feel it coming. I’ve inadvertently bought flax seed meal, lots of baking powder, dry dates, dry blueberries, frozen cranberries… I think these are feeling like fiber rich muffins.

The first time I got the muffin craze I was trying to invent a high protein muffin with protein powder baked inside as an ingredient. The second time around I tried to cut the fat by substituting fruit or vegetable purees like pumpkin, carrot and banana. Both these muffin cycles produced lots of not so delicious muffins. They tasted like healthy muffin and had weird texture.

This time I think I will be aiming for a good texture and taste… and try to make a recipe with whole wheat flour and flax meal. Hopefully it will taste good so I can end my muffin madness before I end up driving around in my car throwing bags of muffins at homeless people. They will wonder why I am giving them bad muffins.

New Year, New Blog, New Post!

Well, I don’t exactly know where to start but here goes. I like food. Alot. They say I’m obsessed, but I don’t think of it as a disorder. Here are some places I check often Tastespotting.com and Foodgawker.com good photography and recipes. Also delicious.com/mhashimoto — people tell me just because its called delicious doesn’t mean I have to save my favorite recipes there… but its mightly useful for it (Also look in the foodblog tag for cool foodblogs I try to follow… but apparently Chocolate is my favorite tag) . I’ll be posting lots of things on this blog hopefully! Recipes I think people should try — and if they do tell me how they go! I can answer questions… and of course I’ll be posting my own culinary adventures and achievements and failures in my kitchen and backyard. Right now I’m growing some sugar snap peas in my backyard and they’ve just started to flower.

Awaiting the crisp (vegetables that is). Hopefully I get to it before my new dog.
